‘Fortnite’ teams up with ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ for ‘Fortnitemares’ Halloween event
Fortnite has revealed the first details of its annual ‘Fortnitemares’ Halloween event, with the 2026 season including a crossover with Five Nights At Freddy’s.
The first ‘Fortnitemares’ season launched in 2017 and since then, every October has seen Epic Games bring horror favourites to the hit online battle royale game.
Yesterday (September 28) Fortnite shared new artwork that gave fans a taste of what they can expect this ‘Fortnitemares 2026’.
The key art features Five Night At Freddy’s haunted animatronic Freddy Fazbear leading the charge, with Nightmare On Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger alongside them. There are also references to The Purge, The Slender Man, Beetlejuice and manga series Black Clover. “Tricks n treats 4 u,” reads the accompanying text.

A short teaser trailer gave fans a better look at three potential Five Night At Freddy’s skins that will be available as part of the collab. The 40-second clip is already one of the most-viewed posts the official Fortnite X account has ever made.

‘Fortnitemares’ kicks off later this week (October 1) before Chapter Seven’s final season begins in November. A number of new sprites have already been confirmed via Fortnite content creators and it’s expected that previous ‘Fortnitemares’ collabs will return to the item store. More details will be shared later this week.
Last week it was announced that Madison Beer was joining Fortnite’s ‘Icon’ series after publicly asking Epic Games to add her to the game. “I would say this is definitely up there with being nominated for a Grammy and playing Madison Square Garden,” Beer said in a statement after the collab was revealed. “There’s things in my life that I am just obsessed with, and that I would die for, and Fortnite is one of them.”
In other news, it’s been reported that Rockstar Games are working on a sequel to L.A. Noire to follow the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
