500 fishers in Ilocos Sur receive P10,000 livelihood aid

SAN ILDEFONSO, ILOCOS SUR, Philippines — Five hundred fishers from 13 barangays in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, each received P10,000 in additional livelihood capital from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 (DSWD FO 1) on Monday, Sept. 14.
The assistance was provided through the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) as part of the government’s “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” initiative.

The beneficiaries, whose primary source of income is fishing, are expected to use the cash assistance to purchase fishing equipment and other supplies to support and expand their livelihood.
According to DSWD, the additional capital is intended to help the fishermen build more stable and sustainable income sources for their families. /cb
