KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned the deadly attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed civilians and injured hundreds.

In a Facebook post today, Anwar said the attack had claimed innocent lives and left hundreds injured, while extending his condolences to the victims’ families and wishing those hurt a swift recovery.

“I unequivocally denounce the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which has taken innocent lives and left hundreds injured,” he said.

Anwar said attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure could not be justified, warning that such actions would only deepen the suffering caused by the conflict.

“There can be no justification for attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure,” he said, adding that putting innocent lives at risk would only worsen the consequences of the conflict.

He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for Saudi Arabia and its people amid the situation.

“Malaysia stands in solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people at this perilous hour,” he said.

Anwar expressed hope that diplomatic efforts would prevail before the conflict widened further, saying Malaysia remained steadfast in its hope that “diplomacy and reason will prevail before the conflict widens still further”.
