KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — A local man in his 40s is feared drowned after being reportedly swept away in Sungai Chuah, Kajang, Sunday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which began yesterday, was suspended at 4.30 pm yesterday due to heavy rain and will resume tomorrow.

He said the search was carried out using kayaks and boats, alongside search efforts along the riverbanks.

"The department's K9 tracker dog unit and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel are also involved in locating the victim at the scene," he said in a statement.

JBPM received an emergency call at 5.23 pm yesterday regarding a local man who was swept away in the river before disappearing from view.

The Kajang Fire and Rescue Station dispatched a team that arrived at the scene, located about four kilometres from the station, at 5.29 pm, before the search operation was expanded with assistance from the Shah Alam and Port Klang stations. — Bernama
