PN seeks details of eight Bersatu complaints from RoS

KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional has sought an explanation from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over eight complaints lodged by Bersatu that led to restrictions being imposed on the coalition's activities.

PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the coalition, through its lawyer, sent a letter to RoS on Monday requesting details of the complaints and a meeting with the RoS director-general.

"We want to know what the eight complaints are about. Until now, we do not know the details of the allegations made by Bersatu.

"We believe RoS should investigate the complaints and act fairly before imposing any restrictions on PN's activities," said the Kubang Kerian member of parliament.

Tuan Ibrahim said PN also wanted RoS to explain the basis for restricting its activities, particularly if the coalition was to be suspended.

"We are in a difficult position because we do not know the basis of the action. We need an explanation so we can understand the issue and respond accordingly," he said.

He said Bersatu should also be allowed to respond to the complaints lodged against PN.

"We only want to ensure that Bersatu answers the allegations. We need to know what the complaints are before we can respond.

"We suddenly received a letter restricting our activities, but we were not informed of the details of the complaints," he said.

Tuan Ibrahim also denied that PN had removed Bersatu from the coalition.

"We did not remove Bersatu from PN. As far as we know, Bersatu was not called to attend meetings, but we do not know about other issues.

"That is why we have asked RoS to explain the factors behind the restriction on PN's activities," he said.

He said PN would await RoS' response to the letter submitted through its lawyer.

"PN's position is that the matter should be investigated and the coalition should be given an explanation on the complaints and the reasons for the action taken," he said.

It was reported that RoS suspended all PN activities effective Sept 23 after issuing a notice to the coalition seeking an explanation over a complaint lodged by Bersatu.
