Full list of London postcodes hit by major water outage

Five London boroughs and two Surrey boroughs have been impacted by the burst, while several schools have been forced to close their doors.

Properties in Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton, and Wandsworth have all been affected.

The location of the burst is understood to be near the Island Barn Reservoir in West Molesey, though the reservoir itself is not leaking.

Thames Water has dispatched specialist teams to the site to stop the water flooding from the broken pipe, but has warned the repair could take “some time to fix”.

The organisation added that its teams were delivering bottled water to customers registered on its Priority Services Register and would be setting up water stations.

The number of affected properties was reduced from 15,000 to 6,000 on Monday morning, but as many as 18 postcodes are still facing no water or low water pressure.

A number of schools have been forced to close their doors while supermarkets have reportedly already begun rationing bottled water.

Lib Dem MP for Esher and Walton Monica Harding has pushed for an “urgent response” as she expressed her concern for vulnerable people in the local community.

In a post on X, she claimed water had been leaking at a rate of 750 litres per second on Monday morning.

Another MP, Tony Kohler for Wimbledon, also expressed his concern and said he had contacted the utility company “to establish what is being done to restore normal service.”
