Indonesia boosts tourism promotion to attract British tourists

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism is intensively promoting the country's top destinations to British travelers through its #GoBeyondOrdinary campaign, tied to sales missions in Glasgow and Manchester and the World Travel Market in London.
The campaign is part of the Wonderful Indonesia United Kingdom Sales Mission 2026 and the country's participation in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026.
"Through the #GoBeyondOrdinary campaign, we aim to offer a richer tourism narrative," Ni Made Ayu Marthini, the ministry's deputy for marketing, said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
Marthini said the narrative goes beyond natural beauty to highlight Indonesia's cultural heritage, gastronomy and high-value authentic experiences.
The roadshow began with a sales mission at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on Oct. 27, followed by an event at the Hyatt Regency in Manchester on Oct. 29.
Indonesia will next take part in WTM London 2026, scheduled for Nov. 3-5 at ExCeL London.
For the sales mission, the ministry worked with the Indonesian Tourism Promotion Alliance (APPI) to bring 10 representatives from the hotel, tour operator and attraction sectors.
Through direct business meetings with travel professionals in Glasgow and Manchester, each event targeted more than 40 potential business partners.
The meetings aimed to expand the distribution network for Indonesian travel products, highlight destination developments and create collaboration opportunities between Indonesian and British tourism businesses.
At WTM London, the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion will feature 70 tourism players from nine provinces, comprising 47 co-exhibitors and 23 industry players from five official partners.
Promotion will focus on value-added experiences, including marine tourism, gastronomy, wellness tourism, traditional textiles and Muslim-friendly tourism.
The offerings will be showcased through 10 priority tourism destinations and three regenerative tourism destinations.
The campaign aims to position Indonesia as a destination for more meaningful travel experiences, from exploring marine and natural landscapes to connecting with local communities.
