Prabowo gathers 800 senior military, police officers at palace

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto summoned around 800 senior officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
ANTARA observed the arrival of several officials, including Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, and National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Head Lieutenant General Suharyanto.
Suharyanto said military and police leaders were invited to the palace to receive directives from President Prabowo.
"We will listen to directives from Mr. President," the BNPB head told reporters.
The gathering took place just two days after Prabowo presided over a ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of the TNI at its headquarters in East Jakarta on Monday.
On that occasion, he instructed Indonesian soldiers to continue serving the public and strengthen their capabilities to protect the nation from evolving risks and threats amid global turbulence and uncertainty.
The president also marked the anniversary by inaugurating 204 military units across the TNI's three service branches, including six regional army commands established in the Riau Islands, Yogyakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, Central Papua, and West Nusa Tenggara.
Polri underwent a leadership reshuffle earlier this month, with President Prabowo Subianto appointing General Suyudi Ario Seto as national police chief, replacing General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who was named chief of the Presidential Staff Office at the State Palace.
At the same time, Commissioner General Wahyu Hadiningrat was appointed deputy national police chief.
Wednesday's gathering followed a similar forum chaired by the president at the palace complex in early February 2026.
