Ex-Ondo lawmakers condole FG, families over military plane crash

Large sections of the military aircraft that crashed in the Ondo River have been recovered as recovery efforts continue at the crash site
The Forum of Former Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly has commiserated with the Federal Government, the Ondo State Government and the families of the victims of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.
The crash claimed the lives of all 25 crew members and passengers on board the aircraft.
The condolences were contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the forum’s Chairman, Olugbenga Araoyinbo, and its Public Relations Officer, Tayo Abidakun.
“We commiserate with the federal government, Ondo state government, military/Air Force and the families of the victims of this tragic incident,” the forum stated.
The former lawmakers commended President Bola Tinubu for ordering a thorough investigation into the incident, saying the probe should establish the cause of the crash and help prevent future incidents involving Nigerian Air Force aircraft.

“The President has done well by ordering a thorough probe of the incident. We hope that the probe will get to the root of the crash in order to avert any further crash of aircraft in the fleet of the Nigerian Air Force,” the forum stated.
The forum also praised the pilot for what it described as an act of bravery, saying the aircraft was reportedly diverted away from a populated area.
It also commended Tinubu for declaring a three-day mourning period in honour of the victims.
The former lawmakers further commended the Navy, other security agencies and residents for their efforts in the search and recovery operation at the crash site.
