Herzog expresses hope of someday meeting with Lebanese president during visit to Cyprus
Christodoulides said that he looked forward to discussing how to enhance the two countries' strategic partnership in tourism, trade, security, energy, and defense.
President Isaac Herzog said that his dream was to have the president of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, join a meeting he held on Thursday with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
"I believe that we should move toward peace in our region while making sure that terror is shunned and removed, and that life thrives between nations and peoples for the well-being of the entire region and the world," he said.
He also thanked Christodoulides for his friendship with Israel.
"You're a great friend, and we respect the dialogue with you, in openness and frankness, on the multitude of issues for discussion," Herzog said. “I bring a message of friendship from Israel, and I hope that together we can enhance further the unique partnership between our peoples and our nations.”
