Bafana Bafana transfer rumours: Appollis, Foster, Makhanya

Translate

It’s early days, but Bafana Bafana are looking good under Pitso Mosimane. Some of the more stellar names are attracting big interest from Europe.

Bafana Bafana star Foster is in limbo

26-year-old Lyle Foster is currently out of the picture for Bafana Bafana. The ex-Pirates striker was relegated from the English Premier League with Burnley last season, and left the Clarets on loan this season to join MLS side Houston Dynamo. Born in Soweto, Foster is already becoming something of a journeyman after starting his pro career with Monaco. He then enjoyed stints in Belgium and Portugal before spending three years in England with Burnley.

Will Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis get a big move in January?

French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg is monitoring Oswin Appollis’ performances at Orlando Pirates. This follows rumoured interest from Portuguese giants Porto. The 25-year-old shone against Eritrea in a recent 5-0 win, bagging three assists, matching a feat he also achieved against Congo in 2024. He has chipped in with two goals and two assists so far in seven Betway Premiership outings this term, and should start Saturday’s MTN8 final.

Widely regarded as one of the most fearsome and iconic derby matches in world football, the Old Firm Derby pits Glasgow teams Rangers and Celtic against one another. Bafana defender Olwethu Makhanya has started the last two editions and been on the winning side in both. He has also featured in five out of six league games so far this term after his July move from Philadelphia Union. Big things are expected of the talented 22-year-old who is already being linked with Europe’s biggest leagues:

Via Sisego Gwegwe:

“Clubs in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are understood to be keeping tabs on Makhanya, with the expectation that Rangers would face enquiries next summer should he continue on his present path,”
