Macacua secures 3rd district seat as legislative district winners proclaimed in Maguindanao del Norte

The Commission on Elections on Tuesday proclaimed the winning candidates for parliamentary district representatives in Maguindanao del Norte in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Here are the winning candidates of the following districts in Maguindanao del Norte:

• Prince Khalid Tomawis (BFP) - 1st district
• Doc Ibrahim Ibay (BFP) - 2nd district
• Abdulraof Macacua (Ind) - 3rd district
• Abas Abdulnasser (UBJP) - 4th district
• Atty. Cocoy Mastura (BFP) - 5th district

Three of the five winning district representatives came from the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP).

Abdulnasser came from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP).

BARMM Interim Chief Minister Macacua, an independent candidate, secured the Maguindanao del Norte Third District representative seat.

To recall, Macacua and his entourage in August escaped unharmed after armed assailants ambushed their convoy in Datu Odin Sinsuat.

Macacua was traveling from his hometown in Barangay Gambar, Mother Kabuntalan, when the incident occurred.

He attended the proclamation rally of the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP), the party he recently joined and where he was named chairman after previously running as an independent candidate in the province’s 3rd district

The BARMM held its first parliamentary elections on Monday, September 14, with 2.393 million registered voters.

As of 5:59 p.m. on Tuesday, the voter turnout in the Bangsamoro elections reached 98.64%.

Commission on Elections chairman George Erwin Garcia earlier underscored the resolve of voters in the region to cast their ballots, noting that voter turnout had reached 80% at the time. –NB, GMA News
