Mostly dry weather to give way to showers Thursday

Most of Taiwan will see cloudy to sunny skies through Wednesday before strengthening seasonal northeasterly winds bring rain to northern and eastern Taiwan starting Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said yesterday.

CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng (劉沛滕) said that conditions will range from cloudy to sunny from today through Wednesday, with afternoon showers possible in mountainous areas.

Temperatures will remain largely unchanged during that period, with daytime highs ranging from 32-35°C and potentially reaching °C in Taipei and inland areas of western Taiwan, Liu said.

Nighttime lows will range from 23-26°C across the island, according to CWA data.

From Thursday through next Tuesday, stronger northeasterly winds will bring localized showers in areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan, as well as afternoon showers in southern Taiwan and mountainous areas, Liu said.

Daytime highs will dip slightly to 30-31°C in areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan, while remaining around 34-35°C elsewhere, he said.

Nighttime temperatures will also fall to around 22-24°C across Taiwan, Liu forecast.
