Gullit: Man United Must Be Patient With Carrick

Translate

Dutch football icon Ruud Gullit has urged Manchester United to exercise patience with manager Michael Carrick as mounting pressure grips Old Trafford following a troubling five-match winless run.

The Red Devils’ struggles deepened on Tuesday night with a 2-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, leaving the squad reeling.

Carrick admitted after the match that “the boys are hurting,” a sentiment echoed by defender Lisandro Martinez, who reportedly blasted the club’s overarching structure in the wake of the loss, sparking widespread agreement within an unsettled dressing room.

Manchester United has failed to secure a victory since defeating Sabah at Old Trafford on September 10th. However, speaking to ComeOn, Gullit insisted that the club’s problems run far deeper than the dugout, pointing to structural shortcomings in recruitment over the past half-decade.

“The most important thing that Manchester United can show this season is patience. It’s a simple fact. They don’t have the best players in the Premier League anymore,” Gullit said.

“They all play for the other teams at the moment. United are having to deal with the fact that the players they really need all play for the other clubs. They missed the boat about five or six years ago.”

Gullit explained that elite talent has consistently gravitated toward rivals like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, leaving United with an uphill battle to bridge the competitive gap.

“The top players went to Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City, and United have missed the boat, and it will take some time for them to get themselves in order to get back to a level where they can have a chance at winning another Premier League title. There are too many stronger contenders with a lot more quality this season.”
