Gombe women unit warns public against fake grant links

Translate

The Gombe State Project Coordination Unit of the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up, on Thursday, warned members of the public against a fraudulent grant link circulating on social media, purportedly offering financial assistance under the programme.

The State Coordinator, Hauwa Hassan, said the link was not authorised by the project, and as such, cautioned unsuspecting members of the public against clicking on it or sharing sensitive personal and financial information.

Hassan, in a statement shared with our correspondent, which read in part, alerted the public that the project had dissociated itself from the misleading information, warning that fraudsters were exploiting its name to deceive members of the public.

She stated, “The circulating link is not an authorised communication channel of NFWP-SU. Consequently, members of the public should not click on the link, submit personal information, provide bank details, share verification codes or make any form of payment in response to such claims.”

The coordinator explained that all legitimate information concerning grants, financial support, empowerment opportunities and other programme interventions would be communicated through officially recognised channels.

She urged Local Project Implementation Units, Ward Facilitators, Women Affinity Group members and other community stakeholders to disregard the fraudulent information and help prevent its further circulation by alerting others.

Hassan reaffirmed the project’s commitment to protecting beneficiaries and preserving the integrity of its interventions, stressing the need to guard against exploitation by fraudsters.

She advised members of the public seeking clarification or authentic information about the programme to contact the Gombe State Project Coordination Unit.
