John Steinbeck’s ‘East of Eden’ Returns to Top of Book Charts Following Netflix Adaptation’s Release

Fresh off the heels of the hit Netflix adaptation, created by Zoe Kazan and starring Florence Pugh, John Steinbeck‘s “East of Eden” is at the top of Amazon’s Best Sellers List in the No. 1 spot. In addition, the audiobook of the novel is on the retail giant’s “Best of #BookTok” books list too.

Regularly priced at $25, “East of Eden,” published by Penguin Books, is on sale for $16.25 on Amazon. This is a 35% savings.

First released in 1952, “East of Eden” is a multi-generational family saga that follows the painful and brutal lives of the Trasks and the Hamiltons during the post-Civil War era in the Salinas Valley in California. The story spans throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as it culminates at the end of World War I.

Created and co-written by Zoe Kazan (granddaughter of Elia Kazan, the director the 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean) the TV limited series “East of Eden” is now available to watch on Netflix. It stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Ciarán Hinds, Martha Plimpton and others. The series was first announced in June 2022 and dropped in its entirety on Thursday, Oct. 1.
