Lee Chean Chung’s exit as MP is official, Election Commission told of Petaling Jaya seat vacancy

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul received the resignation letter submitted by Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung on Oct 2, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor said this at the start of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament this morning.
“The Dewan Rakyat Speaker has informed the Election Commission of the vacancy in the parliamentary seat, in accordance with Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution,” he said.
On Oct 2, Lee announced his unconditional resignation as an MP.
Meanwhile, Ramli said a Parliamentary Service Council would be established to oversee matters relating to parliamentary services following the Parliamentary Service Act 2025 coming into effect on Oct 1. — Bernama
