Loretta Lynn’s Jack White-Produced Album Van Lear Rose Is Finally Returning to Streaming

Translate

In 2004, Jack White convinced country icon Loretta Lynn to come out of retirement and cut a new album for the first time in over a decade. The result was 2004’s acclaimed, Grammy-winning Van Lear Rose, which White himself produced. Cut to 2021, and the album was sadly and mysteriously pulled from streaming services. Luckily, White’s Third Man Records is righting that wrong, as the label has announced that the record will return to DSPs on November 13th.

Of course, given that it’s Third Man Records, the digital return of Van Lear Rose also comes accompanied by a physical repress. Remastered from the original analog tapes, the project will be available on CD, black vinyl, and limited-edition vinyl. Pre-orders are ongoing.

“It is an incredible honor to work again with Jack and his amazing team at Third Man to re-release this incredible album,” Lynn’s daughter Patsy Russell said in a statement. “Our mother’s spirit lives on through this timeless music, and we are thrilled that fans old and new will be reminded of this great work.”

The new version of the album will also include the rarity “Just to Have You Back,” a cut that was previously only available on Third Man’s vault version of Van Lear Rose. Also available today is the single “Miss Being Mrs.” Stream it below.

Before White and Lynn joined forces, Lynn’s last full-length solo effort was 1988’s Who Was That Stranger. Upon release, Van Lear Rose garnered rave reviews and took home two Grammys: Best Country Album and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “Portland, Oregon.”

In other Jack White repress news, Third Man Records also recently announced a 20th-anniversary edition of The Raconteurs’ debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers. White is also currently on tour in support of his latest album, Frozen Charlotte (get tickets). Pick up a vinyl copy of the record here, and revisit our full review of it here.
