Zahid, Ismail say they were not summoned to meet Tuanku Muhriz

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he and Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim were not summoned to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, yesterday afternoon.

Zahid said they only learned about the matter through media reports.

"No. Neither the Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar nor I was summoned to meet him.

"We only learned about it from the media," he told reporters after officiating the University Research and Innovation Investment Summit (EURES) 2026 here today.

Yesterday, it was reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had an audience with Tuanku Muhriz at Istana Negeri Sembilan, Changkat Persekutuan here for almost an hour, following developments in the dispute involving the royal institution and the Negri Sembilan state administration.

Media reports also said Zahid and Ismail were among those who accompanied the Prime Minister to the audience.
