Natalee Holloway Disappearance Doc Sets Premiere At Netflix

Translate

Netflix is exploring the disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway in its latest documentary series.

Taken: Natalee Holloway, which comes from Liz Garbus’ Story Syndicate, will premiere on November 4.

It will explore the case, which dominated the news in 2005, that saw 18-year-old Holloway vanish on a high school graduation trip to Aruba — and never came home.

Per the logline, what followed was years of unanswered questions, a missing teenager, and a mother’s relentless fight for the truth. Now, over 20 years later, Natalee’s mother, Beth, is ready to tell the complete story. It’s a story of a mother who refused to stop searching, an investigation that spanned continents, and a daughter whose memory endures. This is Natalee’s story, told at last in full.

Directed by Dani Sloane and Matthew Galkin, the three-parter will feature access to Beth as well as those who were with Natalee when she vanished.

Story Syndicate, which is behind Netflix’s Maternal Instinct, produces with Garbus, Sloane, Dan Cogan, Jon Bardin and Tommy Coriale exec producing.

Dani Sloane said, “Growing up in the mid-2000s, it was impossible to turn on the TV or walk by a news stand without seeing Natalee Holloway’s face. But, beyond the wall-to-wall coverage and sensational headlines, is a story about the incredible courage, devotion, and strength that Natalee’s mother, Beth, showed in the face of unimaginable loss. For me, as a mother and filmmaker, Beth’s steadfastness and dedication to her daughter is nothing short of inspiring, and I’m so proud to be able to share her story.”

Jon Bardin, President, Documentary and Unscripted at Story Syndicate, added, “We are deeply honored that Beth Holloway has trusted us with her story, and, through it, the story of her daughter, Natalee. Beth’s tireless twenty-year pursuit of justice is a testament to the power of her love, and we can’t wait to share this definitive telling of her story with the world.”
