Anthropic (ANTHRO) ‌co-founder Jack Clark said on Saturday that one of his company’s internal economic models projected U.S. economic output to reach $44T by 2030 thanks to fast-improving AI capabilities that could transform all fields at a more rapid pace.

He made the remarks at the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting taking place in Bangkok this week.

Clark called the $44T figure, which indicates a massive jump from the current U.S. economic output of little more than $30T, "sounds very outlandish,” but added that scientific discovery is expanding considerably due to AI.

"I know, but it's implicated by the technology continuing to get better. And if GDP were to grow this much, then economic doctrine suggests that new industries and inventions would need to have been created to power such a major economic expansion,” he said according to Reuters.

Additionally, Clark underscored the need for international cooperation to establish "unusual and serious rules" for the transformative technology.

His comments echo those of Anthropic (ANTHRO) CEO Dario Amodei, who has also pushed for greater coordination among AI companies in response to fast-improving model capabilities.

In September, Amodei and other tech leaders from Google (GOOG) (GOOGL), Meta (META), SpaceX (SPCX), Nvidia (NVDA), and OpenAI (OPENAI) signed off on a White House accord that calls for responsible training and development of frontier AI models.
