Asian Games 2026, Day 4: Indian results on September 22 — How many medals did India win?

India claimed its first gold medal of the Asian Games 2026 after the women’s team beat Sri Lanka in the cricket final on Tuesday.

India stunned Japan in the men’s badminton team event to enter the semifinal and is now assured of winning a medal.

Roshibina Devi Naorem confirmed another medal for India after she entered the semifinal of the women’s 60kg wushu event.

In boxing, Sakshi Chaudhary and Jadumani Singh advanced to the round of 16 after convincing wins. India missed out on a medal from shooting after Parth Mane and Elavenil Valarivan finished fourth in the final of mixed 10m air rifle event.

SWIMMING

• Men’s 1500m Freestyle - Aryan Nehra finished 12th overall with a timing 15:34.71.
• Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay - The Indian team, featuring Rishabh Das, Akash Mani, Benedicton Rohit and Danush Suresh, qualified for the final after finishing fourth in the heats. In the final, they finished eighth with a timing of 3:44.26.

BADMINTON

• Women’s Team Quarterfinals - India lost to Japan (1-3) and is now out of medal contention.
• Men’s Team Quarterfinals - The Indian men’s team India pulled off a stunning 3-0 win over Japan and is now assured of a medal in the event.

BOXING

• Women’s 51kg, Round of 32 - CWG gold medallist Sakshi Chaudhary begins her campaign with a solid 5-0 victory over Aira Villegas (Philippines).
• Men’s 55kg, Round of 32 - Jadumani Singh beat Chandra Bahadur Thapa (Nepal) 4-1 to progress to the next round.

CRICKET

• Women’s cricket final - Absolute dominance from India as it thumped Sri Lanka to defend its title and win the nation’s first gold in Asian Games 2026.

EQUESTRIAN

• Eventing Team Dressage - Indian Team (Fouaad Mirza, Arjan Singh Nagra, Ashish Limaye) finished seventh.
• Eventing Individual Dressage - Ashish Limaye (14th), Arjan Singh Nagra (23rd) and Fouaad Mirza (26th).
• Eventing Team Jumping - Indian Team (Fouaad Mirza, Arjan Singh Nagra, Ashish Limaye) eliminated.
• Eventing Individual Jumping - Ashish Limaye (6th), Fouaad Mirza (24th), Arjan Singh Nagra (eliminated)

SHOOTING

• 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team - Parth Mane & Elavenil Valarivan qualified for the final but missed out on a medal after finishing fourth.
• Men’s skeet shooting qualification - Anant Jeet Singh Naruka is going strong in second place. His cumulative score after four series is 96. Mairaj Ahmad Khan is 23rd with 91. Bhavtegh Singh Gill has managed to gather only 86 points.
• Women’s skeet shooting qualification - Raiza Dhillon is placed fifth with a score of 92, Parinaaz Dhaliwal is ninth with 89, and Maheshwari Chauhan is 16th with 85.

ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS

• India’s Pranati Nayak qualifies for vault final after finishing seventh in the qualification round. 

HOCKEY

• Men’s Pool B Match - India thumped Sri Lanka 16-1.

TABLE TENNIS

• Women’s Team - India beat Thailand in a thrilling 3-2 clash in the Round of 16. But, the Indian side suffered 0-3 defeat to North Korea in the quarterfinal.
• Men’s Team - India was blanked 0-3 by South Korea in the Round of 16.

SEPAK TAKRAW

• Men’s Regu Team, Group B - India suffered a 0-3 defeat to Malaysia.

WUSHU

• Women’s 60kg Quarterfinals - Roshibina Devi made it a hat-trick of Asiad medals after outpowering Man Sin Chu (Macao, China).
• Men’s 56 kg quarterfinal - Aryan lost to Uzbekistan’s Saydullo Abdurashitov 1-2.
• Wushu - Women’s Nanquan & Nandao - Hanjabam Langlentombi Devi finished ninth.

KABADDI

• Men’s Group A - India’s title defence stays on the right track as it notched up a second win in a row after beating South Korea 63-31.

FENCING

• Women’s Epee Individual - Tanishka Khatri lost to South Korea’s Sera Song in the round of 16. She had earlier finished third in Pool 4 and had beaten Thailand’s Natpapat Sangngio in the Table of 32, the same stage where Mitva Chaudhari lost to China’s Yang Jingwen.
• Men’s Foil Individual - Both Hemash Singh Sanasam and Sachin lost in the round of 32, after defeats to Kazakh fencers Galim Nurumov and Timofey Semyonov, respectively.

ESPORTS

• Football (eFootball) Group F - Chinmay Sahoo & Danial Patel played out a draw against Uzbekistan, before getting a walkover against Mongolia.

SOFT TENNIS

• Women’s Singles - Aadhya Tiwari failed to make it to the knockouts after winning one game and losing another in the group stage.
• Men’s Singles - Jay Meena advanced to the quarterfinals after topping the group. Meanwhile, Aryan Thakur exited in the group stage.

KARATE

• Men’s Kumite -84kg - Chetan Bhatt lost in the semifinal and then narrowly missed out on a medal in the bronze-medal bout.
• Women’s Kumite -55kg - Alisha exited the competition in the round of 16.
