Meanwhile, areas in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur may also be gripped by 42 °C heat index on Saturday.

The heat index measures the level of discomfort that the human body experiences based on the combined effects of air temperature and humidity.

The dangerous heat index ranges from 42°C to 51°C, according to Pagasa’s classification.

The weather bureau warned that prolonged exposure under these conditions may result in heat cramps and heat exhaustion, and potentially lead to heat stroke.
