NCRPO gets 73 new motorbikes to boost 911 emergency response

MANILA, Philippines — Seventy three additional motorcycles were turned over to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday to reinforce the unit’s emergency response, particularly in areas with difficult road conditions.

NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said the motorcycles will support Metro Manila’s 911 emergency hotline, enabling faster police response during heavy traffic and on congested roads.

“These additional motorcycles will give our responders greater mobility and allow them to reach people in distress as quickly as possible,” Abrahano said in a statement.

Abrahano ordered the police officers in Metro Manila to secure strategic areas for motorcycle deployment to ensure effective responses to emergency calls.   

He said that the motorcycles will be used alongside existing police response vehicles and personnel, mainly to respond to urgent calls received through the 911 hotline.  

The NCRPO reminded the public to use the 911 emergency hotline responsibly and provide accurate information when seeking assistance. 

The turnover of motorcycles is part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s nationwide implementation of the Unified 911 emergency hotline, merging police, fire, medical, and other emergency services in a single number for a faster response during disasters.
