Premier League star's career criminal brother beats Home Office bid to deport him to Africa - as he awaits trial for kidnap, false imprisonment, aggravated burglary and robbery

The street criminal brother of a Premier League star has beaten a Home Office attempt to deport him to Africa - by citing his own human rights.

The gang member and aspiring rapper, now in his twenties, was the subject of a concerted four year attempt by the government to send him to his family's country of origin in West Africa because of his shocking criminal record.

The young man, who has never held down a job, is currently in prison for dangerous driving and carrying a knife - while awaiting yet another court case accused of kidnap, false imprisonment, aggravated burglary and robbery.

During his teens he had played academy football for several Premier League teams but while his brother went on to make it and is now a multi-millionaire, the man instead got sucked into street crime.

And he has been involved in so much anti-social and criminal behaviour since then that he has even incurred a number of gunshot wounds.

But the wannabe rapper has managed to win a long-running deportation bid by the Home Office to kick him out of Britain as an undesirable - arguing that this wouldn't be fair as all his significant ties are here.

A Premier League footballer - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has seen his career criminal brother living in Britian beat a Home Office attempt to deport him back to West Africa

The Home Office first targeted him for deportation in 2022 after he was sentenced to 20 months in jail having been caught with a sword in his waistband, which in turn meant had breached an existing order about his criminal behaviour.

They lost that attempt to get him out of Britain but appealed - and have now lost that appeal too.

The gang member is 'healthy and capable' according to a judge but has never worked - in stark contrast to his hugely successful brother, a full international footballer who has made countless top flight appearances.

A court heard the foreign national has a 'sustained history of criminal offending involving repeated breaches of Criminal Behaviour Orders, possession of offensive weapons, breaches of licence conditions, recalls to custody, and recent charges. He has a history of offending with knives since the age of 17'.

Totaling his various jail terms together he has spent three of the last eight years prison.

But despite his ongoing recurrent criminality, the Home Office has failed in its latest attempt to deport him after a judge ruled he is 'socially and culturally integrated' into the UK and a return to his home country would leave him 'very much an outsider'.

The immigration tribunal decided he would face 'very significant obstacles to integration' in his home country and prevented the government from deporting him by ruling it would breach his human rights.

That decision came despite it emerging that he has an uncle in the country and grew up with a familiarity of the country, including its culture and food, while his mother maintains links to the country and visited as recently as 2024.

But the judge said the 'significance of these ties should not be exaggerated' because he has never been there.

They said his social and cultural identity 'has been almost entirely formed in the UK and by British culture' - even though he was born overseas and his family come from West Africa. The Home Office is appealing the decision and so the brother could still face deporation.

The knife criminal first arrived in the UK in 2006 after being born in another country where he doesn't have nationality.

He is in a relationship with a British woman with whom he shares a baby.

Their child was born in February but the rapper has only met them twice because he remains incarcerated.

There is no evidence that having a partner or child has reformed his criminal ways, a court heard.

The Home Office argued he is a healthy young adult capable of work who has a familiarity with the culture of his home country and has family ties in the country who could provide guidance and support.

But the judge concluded it would breach his human rights because he has never lived or visited and would be an outsider if returned.
