‘Industry’ Adds Ben Platt, Russell Tovey to Final Season Cast

HBO and the BBC’s Industry is further beefing up its cast for the show’s fifth and final season.

Ben Platt and Russell Tovey have joined the ensemble for season five, which is in production in the U.K. Both actors will have guest roles in the season, joining a host of other new faces.

Platt (The Beauty, Dear Evan Hansen) will play a character named Matt Crenshaw, a venture capitalist and early backer of a wellness tech company. That will likely put him in league with characters played by Zosia Mamet and Dianna Agron, whose character descriptions also mention a wellness tech company.

Tovey (Years and Years, Feud: Capote vs. the Swans) is playing Declan P. Davis, an aide to left-wing politician Nikesh Shah (Bally Gill). Other new additions to Industry’s cast for season five are Cary Elwes, Sam Riley, Jessica Brown Findlay, Luke Manley and Eduard Poliakov.

Season four of Industry ended with upheavals on both the professional and personal sides of the equation for several characters. The season four cast features Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia, Toheeb Jimoh, Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani and Edward Holcroft.

Mickey Down and Konrad Kay created Industry and also write and direct. They executive produce the series with Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther, and Ryan Rasmussen for Bad Wolf, Kathleen McCaffrey for Little Gems, and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC.

Platt is repped by Immersive, Untitled Agency, CAA, and Jackoway Austen. Tovey is repped by Independent Talent Group.
