Woman, 40, arrested as man injured in 'chemical attack'

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man was injured in “an incident involving a chemical substance”.

Officers were called to Fletcher Close, in Southgate, Crawley, at around 5.10am on Sunday.

A 40-year-old man was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Police said she was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Officers cordoned off the road and first responders remain at the scene.

However, police say there is not thought to be a wider risk to members of the public.
