Google parent Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL) is near a multi-year agreement to pay Constellation Energy (CEG) $1B or more for nuclear energy in a deal that could be announced as soon as this week, although the exact scale and location of the nuclear capacity are not yet known, Bloomberg reported Monday.
Amazon struck a similar deal last week with Constellation (CEG), agreeing to buy 690 MW of power, including capacity from upgrading the Calvert Cliffs nuclear facility in Maryland.
Microsoft reached an agreement in 2024 to buy the electricity from the shuttered Three Mile Island nuclear plant, which Constellation (CEG) is planning to restart at the site in Pennsylvania next year.
Google has other agreements with atomic power producers, agreeing last year to buy electricity from NextEra Energy to support the power company's plans to restart its Duane Arnold reactor in Iowa and recently lining up new contracts from Southern Co. by funding upgrades at two atomic plants.
