Fire damages classroom at Chung Ling in Penang
GEORGE TOWN: A classroom at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chung Ling in Air Itam was damaged in a fire last night.
About 20 per cent of the classroom was affected.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said the department received a distress call at 7.54pm.
He said there were no students in the classroom during the incident.
Firefighters from the Paya Terubong and Lebuh Pantai fire and rescue stations brought the blaze under control at 8.16pm and extinguished it within 25 minutes.
The operation ended at 9.22pm, after which the scene was handed over to the Fire Investigation Team.
A total of 12 personnel were involved in the operation, with police also providing assistance.
