Another week of water woes for Durban: Long list of areas warned of reduced supply

Residents across large parts of eThekwini have been warned to use water sparingly after a technical failure reduced the amount of water being supplied to the city.
The municipality said its bulk water supplier, uMngeni-uThukela Water (UWW), experienced a technical failure affecting pumps supplying the Durban Heights Treatment Works.
Repairs are under way and are expected to be completed by Thursday, 8 October. In the meantime, the failure has reduced incoming water flows to eThekwini by approximately 50 million litres per day.
The municipality warned that residents in affected areas could experience reduced water availability while it manages the lower supply.
The municipality said the reduced supply is expected to affect areas supplied through the Northern Aqueduct and Mount Moriah Reservoir, including Pinetown and surrounding areas.
The City said conserving water will help it manage available resources and, importantly, prevent reservoirs from becoming depleted while repairs are being completed.
