Arimao Asum, patriarch of the Asum political dynasty in Lumbayanague, Lanao del Sur, leads the race for the province's 5th District seat in the first elections of the Bangsamoro Parliament
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Arimao Asum, a former vice mayor of Lumbayanague and patriarch of the Asum political dynasty, is set to win the 5th District seat of Lanao del Sur during the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.
Asum has received 43,316 votes, according to 93.38% of total election returns as of September 14, 10:14 pm.
He holds a wide lead over his closest competitor, former Tubaran mayor and United Bangsamoro Justice Party bet Khaledyassin Papandayan, with 28,059 votes. Trailing the race is independent candidate Udtog Tago with 1,229 votes.
Asum is the bet of the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party, which is led by Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. and his son, Lanao del Sur Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid Adiong. He is also the father of incumbent Lumbayanague Mayor Jamal Asum and the husband of Vice Mayor Salamona Asum. – Rappler.com
