Tom Cruise has built a reputation over the years as one of the few actors who perform their own stunts. Setting new records with his ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, Cruise is known for his on-screen prowess and intense approach to filmmaking.

During a recent interview, the actor discussed his life in the film industry, his life-threatening stunts, and whether he fears death.

Tom Cruise reveals whether he is afraid of death or not

In conversation with GQ, Cruise discussed many aspects of his life, including his ability to perform daring stunts for his films. The actor discussed how he performs his stunts and acknowledged that his approach to filmmaking is different and unconventional. When asked if Cruise is afraid of the concept of death, the ‘Digger’ star replied by sharing that he loves adventure in his life and learning new things about different cultures.

He added, “Look, I think you could look at my life and go, 'I like standing on the edge of a cliff physically and metaphorically.' Meaning, I look at life as an adventure, and I always have. I want to understand people. I want to understand life and cultures.

I wonder what those people are and how they feel. Do they think the way I do? Do they laugh at the same thing? How do I connect with them?”Cruise provided a more direct answer by sharing, “So do I fear death? No, I don’t.

But I don’t mind. It’s not like I’m not afraid. I don’t mind the feeling. I understand life has certainties and uncertainties, and in making movies and living life, what interests me is, "Let's move the uncertainties more into the certainties, but I want to create other uncertainties so that we’re moving forward, and it’s part of the adventure of it.

He concluded by sharing that while he acknowledges the fact that he is afraid to a certain extent, he welcomes the feeling rather than ignoring it.

He shared, “It’s just who I am…I’m not afraid to feel afraid… I’m not afraid to go, okay? I know this is a leap, and let’s take the leap. Let’s go.”

About Tom Cruise’s work

On the work front, Tom Cruise is slated to appear as an old potbellied billionaire in ‘Digger,’ who works as a business tycoon and is described as the most powerful man on Earth. However, his massive drilling operations end up causing a lot of catastrophic ecological damage to the planet, which in turn causes a huge tsunami that floods a massive part of a continent. Following this, he goes on a mission to fix the mess he has created and to prove that he is humanity's saviour.
