Confirmed – Chelle Make Four Changes To Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has made late changes to the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Nigeria will be involved in AFCON 2027 qualifiers opening their campaign at home against Madagascar on the 25th, before travelling to keep a date with Guinea-Bissau in Morocco four days later.
Chelle’s list was originally due to be made public on Monday, but it has been deferred to later in the week with the coach making some injury enforced changes, while waiting on the fitness of some of the players in his list.
Like we exclusively reported a while ago New England Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has been ruled out of the games with a harmstring injury, the same as the newly capped winger Femi Azeez who hasn’t made his debut for his new side Brighton due to a muscular issue.
Another midfielder in Fisayo Dele-Bashiru of Lazio is also ruled out of the game, the same as Francis Onyeka although they are waiting for a scan to determine the severity of the injury he suffered during Coventry’s game against Brighton.
Sources say the coach has also opened the door for top striker Victor Osimhen to skip the games, following talks with Galatasary on the need to let the 27 year old recover properly.
Also some players who are in the team for the Russia friendly will now step up to the main team for the AFCON qualifiers, while Zadok Yohanna who is in the team will also be replaced.
