Mudavadi’s 2027 Manifesto: Peace, Integrity, Growth
Ahead of Kenya’s general election set for August 10, 2027, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has outlined a vision for a transparent, peaceful, and petition-free electoral process. Speaking in Nairobi at a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Mudavadi stressed the need to safeguard democratic ideals by fortifying the country’s governance frameworks.
Central to his address was a call to strengthen and protect the independence of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Mudavadi noted that robust, impartial state institutions are indispensable not only for guaranteeing election integrity but also for curbing corruption, eliminating tribalism, and fostering long-term national unity. Addressing the diplomatic community, he expressed hope that the upcoming 2027 polls would be entirely free from political goons and legal disputes.
Connecting institutional governance to Kenya’s broader economic objectives, Mudavadi highlighted the nation’s evolving partnership with China as a catalyst for development. He cited key milestones under the All-Weather Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established following President William Ruto’s 2025 visit to Beijing. Notable achievements include the China-Africa Development Economic Partnership Agreement (CADEPA), which has allowed duty-free Kenyan exports—such as coffee, tea, and avocados—to enter the Chinese market since May. Furthermore, Mudavadi commended major infrastructure projects backed by China, including the planned dualling of the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit highway toward Malaba and the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Kisumu and Malaba. He emphasized that these transport corridors will enhance regional integration and convert agricultural hubs into thriving Special Economic Zones as Kenya transitions past Vision 2030.
