EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Nick Simon has inked with IAG following the Fantastic Fest premiere of his supernatural horror flick What Happened to Doris?, which stars fellow agency client Heather Graham.

Based on a true story, What Happened to Doris? centers on Doris Bither, a single mother who in 1974 reported being violently attacked by unseen entities inside her Culver City home. As the incidents escalated, investigators from UCLA became involved in what would become one of the best-known paranormal cases of the era. The film tells the story through the perspective of the family who lived it.

Simon directed from a script by Thomas Fenton. Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee and Steven Schneider were among the producers.

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Simon began his career in music videos before moving to Los Angeles to attend the American Film Institute, where he was mentored by late horror filmmaker Wes Craven. Additional credits include directing and co-writing The Girl in the Photographs, a horror thriller that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival; co-writing 20th Century Fox’s found footage film The Pyramid; directing Truth or Dare; and directing, co-writing and producing the 2021 horror comedy Untitled Horror Movie, which was conceived, written and filmed remotely during the pandemic.

More recently, Simon wrote and exec produced the psychological thriller Coyotes, starring Justin Long and Kate Bosworth. He continues to be represented by Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
