Salaud Morisset has boarded worldwide sales rights to “Our Way to You” (Ce qui nous mène à toi), the first feature from French-Moroccan filmmaker Khalil Cherti, and produced by Amaury Ovise of Kazak Productions.

While the film already won two awards after its world premiere at this year’s Angoulême Film Festival, it will begin its international tour with the Cairo Intl. Film Festival in November.

The film is distributed in France by Condor Distribution, hitting French theaters on Nov. 11.

The plot delves into Charlie and Hicham’s love story and desire to start a family, as they navigate through the struggle of infertility and assisted reproductive treatment. Over the course of three years, through hope and heartbreak, they will put their love and their bodies to the test.

The cast is led by César award-winning actress Nina Meurisse (“Souleymane’s Story,” 2024; “The Rapture,” 2023) as Charlie, Sofian Khammes (“My Brothers and I,” 2021; “The Big Hit,” 2019) as Hicham, and Jeanne Balibar, who won the Cesar for best actress in 2018 for “Barbara.”

Connection and relationships are recurring themes in Cherti’s work, whether he chooses to relate complicated family bonds (“Wherever Comes the Pain From,” 2013 – selected at Locarno and awarded at Clermont-Ferrand) or the deepness of love in the face of life challenges (“Je, d’un accident ou d’amour,” 2025 – selected at Tribeca and Clermont-Ferrand; “T’embrasser sur le miel,” 2021).

For his first feature film, the director says he wanted to capture one of the most important relationships in a person’s life, as in his opinion, simply being a couple is “an odyssey.”

Cherti added: “I made this film because there is something quietly moving about two people trying, together, through years of hardship, to reinvent themselves.”

Paul Jullien, head of sales at Salaud Morisset, said: “With ‘Our Way to You,’ Khalil Cherti explores the universal themes of parenthood, love and family with remarkable depth and sensitivity, turning an intimate story into something that resonates with us all.”

Amaury Ovise, producer, said the film “sensitively captures the joy and pain of a couple navigating the challenges of assisted reproduction. Charlie and Hicham embody that fragile part of ourselves whose story deserves to be told.”
