Sarah Jessica Parker and Claire Danes spotted on set of long-awaited comedy sequel

Sarah Jessica Parker and Claire Danes have been spotted on set filming the sequel to The Family Stone. Directed by Thomas Bezucha, the 2005 film follows Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) as he brings his uptight businesswoman girlfriend, Meredith Morton (Parker), home to meet his free-spirited family for the Christmas holidays.
Clashing with the family, Meredith invites her sweet-natured sister Julie (Danes) to stay with her for emotional support, which backfires when Julie begins growing closer to Everett.
The star-studded cast of the '00s Christmas comedy also includes Diane Keaton, Craig T Nelson, Luke Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Reaser, and Ty Giordano.

A sequel to The Family Stone was announced in 2025, with several of its original stars returning to the cast.
Parker and Danes have recently been spotted on set as filming continues more than 20 years after the movie first hit our screens. Mulroney and McAdams have also been seen wrapped up in autumnal gear while shooting scenes for the sequel, which does not yet have a release date.
The new film is set to take place two decades after the death of Keaton’s character, Sybil Stone, the family’s beloved matriarch.
A synopsis states that the family will once again reunite for the Christmas period, but they're shocked to discover that their father, played by Nelson, has also invited the woman he is dating to meet them.
In real life, Keaton died from pneumonia in October 2025 at age 79, with director Bezucha telling CNN her loss had "haunted him" while penning the film.
"I’ve been haunted by the loss of Sybil for months now while I worked on it, and so this was a blow on a tender bruise already," he said in November 2025.

"Mentally, I’ve been spending time in that house where I’ve been missing her for a while already."
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in July, Wilson opened up about how the upcoming sequel will honour Keaton.
"Tom Bezucha is a great writer and a great director, and I read the script, and it’s really funny, and it’s so nice that everybody wants to work together again," he said.
"After the death of Diane Keaton, it’ll be even more meaningful because she was so great to be around on the first one."
