EastEnders airs disturbing episode in Amy and Craig plot in iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (29 September), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has aired a disturbing change to the current grooming storyline involving Amy Mitchell and Craig Ingram. In recent weeks, teenager Amy has formed an inappropriate relationship with suspended police officer Craig, after she confessed to him that she attacked Joel Marshall earlier this year.

This week, the pair continued to grow closer, and Craig organised a dinner date at his flat the next day – suggesting to Amy that they could sleep together that evening.

In today’s episode, Amy asked Kim for advice about feeling ready to have sex with her new boyfriend, while keeping Craig’s identity under wraps.

But they were interrupted by Denzel bringing Denise home, after she suddenly felt faint in the Square and struggled to breathe.

Amy acknowledged Denzel sending her flowers, and she agreed to go to Nugget’s birthday party with him that night. However, Denzel then comforted her about Darnell not being a stem cell match for Denise – but Amy had no idea about this.

Amy furiously confronted Denise, who explained that they were trying to protect her from this worrying situation. As Amy raged at feeling left out, Denise admitted that she had lost all hope, with brutal rounds of chemotherapy seemingly not making a difference.

After this emotional outburst, Amy stormed out and Denise broke down in tears. Outside, Amy walked straight into a row with Avani and refused to open up to her friend.

Meanwhile, Craig walked out of the police station with his belongings, having officially been sacked. Amy met him outside and was confused about why he had lost his job.

A conversation between Jack and Callum in the Square uncovered that while a gross misconduct investigation was ongoing, Craig had behaved inappropriately with another young officer at the station.

However, Craig lied and told Amy that he had been sacked for withholding evidence from Joel’s case, refusing to provide the video and ultimately taking the fall for her actions.

Craig explained that he would have to leave Walford to find a new job and told heartbroken Amy to get over him – remarking that they never “got serious” as a couple.

That evening, Denzel was gutted that Amy failed to show up for Nugget’s party, while Denise left a voicemail for her stepdaughter apologising for their earlier argument.

But meanwhile, Amy was at Craig’s flat, where the teen told him that she wanted to be in love and insisted that she was serious about their relationship. As they headed to the bedroom, will anyone discover that Amy is being groomed?
