‘Outer Range’ Showrunner Charles Murray Signs With Paradigm

EXCLUSIVE: Charles Murray, whose list of extensive credits includes being the showrunner of Outer Range for Prime Video, has signed with Paradigm for representation.

While under an overall deal at Amazon, Murray served as the showrunner (Season 2) and executive producer of the neo-Western series Outer Range created by Brian Watkins and starring Josh Brolin, Imogen Poots and Tom Pelphrey. He also served as the showrunner and EP of Netflix’s Kevin Hart miniseries True Story, starring the comedian alongside Wesley Snipes, as well as the fan-favorite Netflix/Marvel series Luke Cage, with Mike Colter playing the titular superhero.

He has also written on multiple series, including FX’s motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy, two Star Wars Universe animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, ABC’s Castle, and the CBS police procedural Criminal Minds, to name a few.

On the film side, Murray wrote and directed The Devil You Know for Lionsgate starring Omar Epps and Michael Ealy. Epps portrayed Marcus Cowans, an ex-con trying to put his life back together with the support of his loved ones. But when Marcus discovers that one of his three brothers (Will Catlett) might be involved in a home invasion, he finds himself not only at odds with his brothers, but also in the crosshairs of a cop (Ealy) who is deeply involved with his last case before he retires.

Most recently, he adapted the non-fiction book Truevine from New York Times bestselling author Beth Macy for Paramount and Appian Way. The film tells the true story of George and Willie Muse, black Albino brothers bearing golden dreadlocks who, in 1899, at the ages of 9 and 6, were considered “genetic anomalies” yet visually ideal when spied by James “Candy” Shelton, a white bounty hunter scouring the area for “freaks” to enslave in a circus sideshow.
