Faith Cuneta, Roxanne Barcelo reunite at Metropop Star Search divas concert

Faith Cuneta and Roxanne Barcelo reunited onstage with fellow Metropop Star Search alumni during the “Stars Reignited” reunion concert on Sept. 5 at a theater in San Juan City.
The sold-out concert brought together Cuneta, Barcelo, Miles Poblete, Anna Katrina Lara, Champagne Morales, Camille Velasco and Xaxa Manalo, with special guest Cye Soriano.
The seven divas kicked off the show with a mashup of Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” setting a celebratory mood among the audience.

Barcelo, who is now based in Taiwan, was among the performers who drew attention during the reunion. She performed “I Think I’m in Love,” marking her return to the stage alongside her fellow Metropop stars.

The artists also took time to look back on their experiences in the singing competition through a “Bonding Moments” segment, where they shared stories about auditions, backstage experiences, career milestones and how their lives unfolded after Metropop.
Lara, who performed Oleta Adams’ “Get Here,” shared her journey before she eventually became a Metropop Star Search Grand Champion in 2000.
She recalled auditioning during Cuneta’s batch but failing to make the cut before returning to the competition the following year and winning the title.

The reunion also highlighted the different paths taken by the singers since their Metropop days.
Manalo, for instance, transitioned from singing to working as a flight attendant and later became a pilot before returning to the stage.

Velasco talked about family and faith, while Poblete recalled her experiences performing abroad before becoming the female lead vocalist of the legendary band Hotdog.
Morales also shared stories of courage, faith, and gratitude, while Cuneta performed songs from her repertoire.
One of the concert’s nostalgic highlights saw Cuneta join fellow Grand Champions Poblete, Morales, and Lara for a medley of iconic GMA teleserye theme songs.
Soriano, who was introduced by the divas as “The Clear Voice,” also performed “Angel” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
The concert concluded with all the performers coming together for “Ever After,” earning a standing ovation from the audience.
