[UPDATED] Sultan of Selangor contracts Influenza A, state ceremony postponed

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is unwell after contracting Influenza A, the Selangor Royal Office said today.
In a statement, Istana Alam Shah said the infection was confirmed by his personal physicians, Datuk Dr Anuar Onah and Datuk Dr Tan Hui Meng.
"Symptoms of the infection were first detected on Friday morning (yesterday), when His Highness developed a high fever and general body weakness.
"Based on their assessment, His Highness may have contracted the infection while attending public functions and interacting with members of the public, including in open spaces.
"Alhamdulillah, His Highness's health is gradually improving, although he is still experiencing a fever," the statement said tonight.
The royal physicians have advised Sultan Sharafuddin to rest and refrain from attending any functions for five to seven days to allow him to make a full recovery.
Following the development, the Istiadat Menjunjung Duli and the Selangor State Honours Conferment Ceremony, scheduled to be held tomorrow (Nov 1) in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Sultan's reign, have been postponed to Nov 7.
"All parties involved are requested to take note of the change in date. Their cooperation and attention are greatly appreciated.
The statement also called on the public to pray for the Sultan's speedy recovery and continued good health.
