ABC News’ Will Reeve Shares Story Of Undergoing Treatment For Testicular Cancer

ABC News correspondent Will Reeve said that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year and undergoing treatment through the summer.

Reeve, 34, and his wife Amanda appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday to talk about what happened.

“Right off the top, I need everyone to know, I am okay,” Reeve said, surrounded by the show’s co-hosts and other contributors.

He said that the diagnosis was a “shock,” and the treatments were a “slog,” but “today, I am relieved to announce that we have arrived at our destination, and this cancer is in the rearview mirror.”

Reeve is the son of Christopher Reeve and Dana Reeve. His father died in 2004, nearly ten years after he was paralyzed in an equestrian accident. His mother died of lung cancer in 2006.

On GMA, Reeve shared a segment where he detailed diagnosis and treatment, including a conversation with his oncologist. After he discovered a lump in his left testicle, he sought a doctor’s evaluation, and it was removed in a surgery in early May. He was later diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer. He underwent a second surgery and then two cycles of chemotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

In July, he rang the bell at the cancer center to mark the end of his treatment. “I can proudly say that at this moment, I don’t currently have any cancer,” he said.

He said that he shared his story to raise awareness. He said, “Don’t be scared. This is not an epidemic. It is a rare cancer, but you should go get yourself checked. If you feel something wrong, say something about it. Go to the doctor, report your change and you will end up okay, almost always.”
