Anti-migrant protesters gather in seaside town as dinghy crosses the Channel
Around 100 anti-migrant demonstrators have gathered in a seaside town amid amid reports that authorities are preparing for the arrival of a migrant dinghy heading for the south coast.
A police cordon has been put in place on Haslar Road, in Gosport.
The atmosphere has mostly remained peaceful so far, despite a few tense moments when police vans attempted to drive through the crowd into the marina car park.
Some protesters stopped the vans from advancing by standing in front of them.
The crowd gathered around the vans chanting “shame on you” and “deport the lot”.
