Sherwood star's "gripping" and "authentic" new legal drama confirms release date

The premiere date for Sherwood star David Harwood's new legal drama Pierre has been announced, and excited fans don't have all that long to wait to see it.

The new series will premiere on Channel 4 on Monday, 5 October at 9pm.

And for those of you who don't want to wait to see the rest, all six episodes will be available on the Channel 4 streaming service on the same day.

The show follows Harewood as solicitor stuck in a poorly-paid job who is shocked to hear that one of his clients, Michael, has died in suspicious circumstances.

He commits himself for getting justice for the youngster, but discovers just how corrupt the police system is.

Can he do right by Michael when everything is so stacked against him?

"I'm extremely delighted to be taking the title role in Pierre," Harwood previously said.

"He's such a wonderfully well-painted character, beautifully crafted by [creators] Roy [Williams] and John [Donnelly] and I cannot wait to get into his shoes. He is bright, flawed, and passionate about his work and I'm really hoping audiences find him as appealing as I do on the page."

Ollie Madden, the director of Film4 and Channel 4 drama, added: "When we read Roy and John's pilot for Pierre, we were immediately taken with its wit, humanity, and gripping, authentic storytelling.

"The nuanced characterisation jumped off the page, and we think the show heralds an iconic new character in Pierre. With David Harewood set to play that role, the deal was sealed. We couldn’t be more excited to be backing Roy, John, Hilary and David on this unique show."

As well as Harewood, the cast includes The Bill's Michele Austin, Boiling Point's Jason Flemyng, Game of Thrones' Dean-Charles Chapman, What's Love Got to Do With It?'s Nikkita Chadha, EastEnders' Christopher Fairbank, London's Burning's Sara Powell and The Midwich Cuckoos' Cherrelle Skeech.

Pierre premieres at 9pm on Monday, 5 October on Channel 4.
