Street Fighter North America Box Office: Earns Less Than Mortal Kombat II In Previews, But Eyes Franchise-Best Debut

The Hollywood film Street Fighter hit theatres worldwide on October 16. There is a lot of chatter and buzz around the franchise film, which features an ensemble cast. The film is enjoying a comfortable release, with no major films opening alongside it. Existing movies like Other Mommy and Verity also pose little threat to Street Fighter.
Paramount Pictures released the movie, which features a star-studded cast, including Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa. The film’s ratings remain under wraps, and a lot will depend on word of mouth during its theatrical run.
Street Fighter Thursday Previews
Ahead of its grand release on Friday, the film held preview screenings on Thursday evening. These previews are important, as audience reception can significantly impact opening-day collections. At the US box office, Street Fighter grossed a solid $4 million on Thursday. This collection trails only Mortal Kombat II’s $5.2 million preview haul. With this performance, Street Fighter secured the second-biggest opening preview ever for a fighting video game adaptation at the US box office.
