JOHOR BARU: A dispute over a loan is believed to have sparked a fight that led to a man being suspected of being hit by a car at Taman Pulai Utama, Skudai, yesterday.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said police received a report on the incident, which occurred in front of a supermarket, at 6.38pm.

"Initial investigations found that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding over a money loan between the two parties, who knew each other.

"The 35-year-old local man suffered a fracture to his right leg in the incident," he said in a statement today.

Following the incident, police arrested three people, comprising a man and two women aged between 34 and 53.

Radin Ramlan said police also seized a Proton Saga and were tracking down several others believed to be involved in the incident.

He said urine screening tests found all three suspects negative for drugs, while checks showed they had no criminal records.

"The victim was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) and is reported to be in stable condition.

"The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," he said.

Earlier, a 26-second video showing a car driver suspected of hitting a motorcyclist who had already fallen before fleeing the scene went viral.
