HBO's Game of Thrones featured some of the most iconic character performances in the history of fantasy, with a cast that brought George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels to life and captured the attention of audiences worldwide for years. Many of the show's headliners remain inseparable from their character counterparts, such as Peter Dinklage as Tyrion, Emilia Clark as Daenerys, Kit Harrington as Jon Snow, etc.

One fan-favorite actor that is instantly associated with her Game of Thrones counterpart is the iconic Gwendoline Christie, known of course for her deeply emotional portrayal of Brienne of Tarth, Catelyn Stark's sworn sword and Jaime Lannister's unlikely love interest. Brienne may have been a more "minor" character when compared to some of the other icons from the show, but she played as crucial a role as any and was featured in some of the series' best moments.

And now, after nearly seven years since she was last seen on screen, Brienne of Tarth is making an official return to Game of Thrones on Wednesday, August 26, joining House Stark as a trusted ally yet again (via GoTL).

Brienne of Tarth is officially returning to Game of Thrones: Legends on August 26, joining the game as Brienne of Tarth: The True Knight. Her new Champion build focuses on letting players freeze enemies and strengthen allies, with attacks capable of hitting a target and adjacent foes while becoming increasingly dangerous as her team spreads Ice. She will headline the True Knight Summon, which also features Legendary Champions Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Ned Stark, Catelyn Stark, and Jon Snow.

Brienne is the first of three new Stark additions arriving over the next month, with Lyanna Mormont launching September 9, bringing abilities built around maintaining attack momentum and resisting enemy control effects. Further, Ned Stark officially returns as The Hand of the King, arriving September 23 and specializing in protecting and restoring allies. The three are specifically designed to become more effective when used together.

In Game of Thrones: Legends, Champions are collectible characters players build their teams around, with each one possessing their own class, abilities, traits, and synergies inspired by figures from Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Champions range across different rarities, including powerful Legendary Champions, and can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness in battle.

Summons are the game's primary method of acquiring new Champions and additional copies of existing ones, with special themed Summons periodically spotlighting particular characters or factions and giving players an opportunity to add featured Champions to their roster.

Developed by Zynga, Game of Thrones: Legends is a mobile puzzle RPG in which players assemble teams of characters from across the Game of Thrones franchise, matching gems to charge Champion abilities and compete in battles, tournaments, and special events. It's one of the most downloaded games on the App Store and Google Play, and is well worth checking out if you're a fan.
