‘On Standby’ Renewed For Season 2 At Israel’s Yes
EXCLUSIVE: Breakout Israeli comic Gitit Fisher’s Yes series On Standby has landed a second season.
On Standby follows Sagit, a 33-year-old airport security screener whose brutally honest view of the world and chaotic personal life turn even the most ordinary interactions into painfully funny disasters.
The series has been a hit in Israel, performing well on local broadcaster Yes and its VoD player, according to the network.
Fisher, who broke out doing online comedy before making it in stand-up and on TV, co-creates and stars in On Standby, which counts Jonathan Gurfinkel, who recently directed Apple TV’s Unconditional as co-creator.
On Standby comes from Red Skies maker Yoav Gross Productions, which reps Fisher via its Gaga Management talent arm. The indie recently hired We Will Dance Again EP Ariel Weisbrod as content chief.
Fisher said: “Honestly, I feel like I wrote Season 2 in my heart a long time ago, so I can’t wait to finally put it onto the page. Putting this show out there felt like taking a piece of my own heart and laying it on the table. Seeing people embrace it so warmly has been deeply moving, and I’m just so ready to pour everything else I have into this next chapter.”
