The Legend Of Zelda Officially Returns December 2026 With New $624 Release You Can Pre-Order Now

It's an incredibly exciting time to be a fan of The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo has finally kicked off the series' 40th anniversary with a huge amount of new merchandise. The Ocarina of Time remake is out now, and it's amazing, and we still have the live-action movie and other surprises to come in 2027. Is there such a thing as too much Zelda? No. No there is not.

"There's no real solution to making a remake that satisfies everyone, but Ocarina of Time comes close," we wrote in our 9/10 review of the recent remake. "With some additional content and replay value, it could easily have been the definitive version. But it will "just" have to settle for being an incredible remake that's worth playing at least once. Ocarina of Time is arguably worth playing in any iteration, including Switch 2."

Leaving aside the Ocarina remake, collectors will be busy. On top of the Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo and a Breath of the Wild vinyl, there's a special new book about the lore and development of Tears of the Kingdom coming in March. Perhaps most tantalizing (and expensive) of all, December will see the release of a gorgeous new premium collector's item — one that comes with a premium price tag to match.

Legend of Zelda Decayed Master Sword

Scheduled to arrive on December 2026, First 4 Figures is releasing an official life-size replica of the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While the legendary blade has appeared in most Zelda games over the years, it's notable in the most recent game for having been nearly completely destroyed by Ganondorf, causing it to decay. It's in this decayed state that the statue is based on, and it's absolutely gorgeous. You know, in as much as something that's decaying can be described as gorgeous.

"The statue draws inspiration from the scene where the Master Sword is shattered by the Gloom released during Ganondorf’s resurrection beneath Hyrule Castle," reads the official product description. "This life-size statue depicts the Decayed Master Sword standing upright, with the dark energy of the Gloom spreading upward from the resin base and enveloping the corroded sections of the blade. The handle is crafted from metal, the blade is made of durable ABS, and the sword can be detached from the base."

The product also includes:

  • Highly detailed resin base inspired by The Legend of Zelda™: Tears of the Kingdom art style
  • Master Sword (ABS blade with metal handle) is detachable from the base
  • Limited-edition numbering
  • Authentication card

While you can pre-order this item now ahead of its December 2026 release, you should know it doesn't exactly come cheap. You're looking at $623.99 for this bad boy. I probably don't need to tell you that you could go out and buy yourself a Nintendo Switch 2 for that amount of money and can pick up the 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 model for cheaper. Then again, maybe you're made of money and can throw around such lofty sums of money without a second thought.
