‘Manifest’ Spinoff ‘Arrivals’ Landing at Netflix

A spinoff of the NBC-turned-Netflix series Manifest is set to touch down on the streamer.

Netflix has ordered a show called Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, three years and change after the original show’s fourth and final season concluded. The series will be set in the same world as Manifest but follow a new group of characters.

Netflix made the announcement on Aug. 28 — or 8/28, a nod to the Flight 828 that was at the center of the original show’s mystery.

Manifest creator Jeff Rake is teaming with Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, writers and co-executive producers on the original, for Arrivals. The trio are co-creators and co-showrunners, executive producing with Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of Compari Entertainment, Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions and Jacqueline Levine. Warner Bros. Television is the studio, as it was for Manifest.

Manifest began with a plane caught in severe turbulence, and when it landed, the passengers and crew discovered that more than five years had passed. Arrivals will start in a similar place: The logline reads, “When a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve.”

Manifest ran for three seasons on NBC from 2018-21. NBC canceled the show just as the first two seasons began streaming on Netflix and scoring big audiences there. The streamer later stepped in and ordered a fourth and final season, which played out in two 10-episode halves in 2022 and 2023.
